A Grade undefeated after 6 rounds

A Tom Abell hundred and 5 wickets from Chris Chellew have seen the FDCC A grade remain undefeated after beating cross town rivals Melville on the weekend. At 4/37 Freo were struggling, enter Tom Abell. A masterclass innings from the Somerset gun saw Freo post 303. Melville came close in their chase being all out for 280 with Chris Chellew ripping through Melville picking up 5/94.

The second grade lost the toss and got sent into bat making a measly 185. Ryan Shuttleworth wound back the clock producing a marvelous 85 but was a lone hand in a poor batting performance. Melville made 8/314 in reply with the shining light for Freo being Elijah Turriff-Smith taking 4/80.

Keenan Anderson belted a run a ball 84 for the third grade as they posted 234 at Stevens Reserve. Melville ended up passing Freo’s total 8 wickets down. Youngster Beau McLean was our best with the ball picking up 3/70.

The fourth grade had its second consecutive easy win by making 207 and bowling Melville out for 106. Captain Benoit Gaffney continued his stellar run of form making 65 but the star of the show was the young fiery quick Reece Anderson who took an incredible 7/39.

If you are up north this weekend stop by Kingsway Reserve to see the A grade take on Wanneroo in what will be a tough game for the boys.
