A Grade Undefeated heading into Christmas

It was another solid performance for the A grade in the last fixture before Christmas against Bayswater Morley. Batting first Freo were in trouble at 7/140. A fantastic partnership from young gun Jhye Richardson (87) and Ross Macauley (27) took Freo to a very respectable score of 237.

Having 20 overs to bowl on the first day Freo were able to snare four wickets to restrict Bayswater to 4/51. On the second morning Freo came out firing taking three early wickets to have Bayswater 7/60. Bayswater produced a solid fightback to end up making 193. Tom Abell showed yet again he is a class above the rest taking 5/45 off 25 overs. Freo batted again and ended the day 1/132 with Tom Abell making 63*.

The second grade batted first at Bayswater on a tough wicket and got to a solid score of 235 with the batting lineup sharing the workload. The very talented Jarryd McPhee made 50* with good support from Ryan Shuttleworth (45) and Aiden Rowden (46).

The star of the show in the field was Elijah Turriff-Smith who took 4/65 off a whopping 37 overs. Andrew Davenport came back into the side and bowled very well taking 2/82 off 28 overs. Freo fell agonizingly short as Bayswater chased down 235 in the second last over.

The third grade also had an agonizing loss. Some very good signs of young talent coming through the ranks such as Jake Wyllie (65), Jack Camarda (52) and Bayley Holman (26). Freo amassed a total score of 282 but Bayswater chased this total down making 314. Yet again Beau McLean was the star with the ball taking 4/89 off 16 overs.

The fourth grade’s good run of form came to an end as Bayswater convincingly beat them. Bayswater batting first made 333 and the wickets were shared around all the bowlers. Freo in reply could only manage to make 202 with Alex Cecchi (53) and Reece Anderson (33) producing good efforts with the bat.
