Fourth Grade
Round 9 sent our boys up to Iluka to take on Joondalup in our last fixture before the Christmas break. Winning the toss, Fremantle elected to bat and were left reeling early with multiple wickets falling and leaving the side at 5-12. A strong partnership with Luke Loveland (29) and Josh Holborn (38) give the boys a glimmer of hope and a score to bowl at, all out for 113.
We knew we needed to strike early and after four overs Joondalup were 2-13. A few costly errors in the field enabled a partnership that nearly took the game beyond hope until Josh Holborn broke through again at 3-72, finishing with 2/28 from six overs. Taking the pace off the ball in the middle overs slowed the run rate but by then it was too late. Joondalup were able to chase our score down in 33 overs.
The 4s now sit in 7th position on the ladder and with only one game separating 3rd to 12th, the early post-Christmas fixtures will be critical to our season continuing into March.
