Under 13s/14s Round 2 Match Report

This week we had both our younger teams in Action at Stevens vs Gosnells in a round 2 clash. We had the u14 come through with a solid win and a few contributors where unfortunately our u13 boys fell short in the run chase , I am sure Shane and his team came away from the game with some sounds learnings from it.

Under 13

Gosnells Batted first and compiled 9/116 of their allotted 40 overs , Fremantle fielded well and kept the run rate in check throughout the innings K Higgs 2/3 off 3 overs led the way along with O Cargill 2/7 off 8 overs to  show tight bowling spells through out . Fremantle fielding efforts through the innings were top notch with 4 run outs through the Gosnells Batting stanza.

In reply Fremantle fell short by 24 runs in the chase being bowled out for 92 , Captain J Saxon top scored with 20 of 36 balls with S Piggott accumulating 12 of 40 balls to try and keep the tail together as they chased down the score. Great effort Port Boys and better luck in your next game.

Under 14

Our Port Boys had a great game on Sunday and had Gosnells in check from very early on in the day , Bowling first they bowled out the opposition for 118 runs leaving nearly 8 overs left in the shed , it was an A grade Fielding effort and bowlers did not disappoint. Led by our left arm leg spinner S Rohanpreet Singh 5/29 to our junior player of the round of 9 overs , well supported by P Dhanawade 3/8 of 7.5 overs to rip through The Gosnells batting order again leaving nearly 8 overs in the bank not completed.

At the half way mark our Port boys required 119 runs of 50 overs to take the win and like round 1 they did not disappoint finishing with 185 runs in 49 overs. Young Farren James was the pick of the batsman with a handy 69 of 97 balls to earn himself the Port boy of the week honours with Captain A Bloodworth getting his team out of the barrier at the top order with a 38 of 52 deliveries. C Keyter gave us a cameo coming in at 7 to compile with a better than run a ball 21 of 19 deliveries.

It was great to see so many Port Families down at Stevens for this fixture and we certainly hope that the boys and there families enjoyed the day win loose or draw.
